Former military man who condemned the invasion of Ukraine was detained for the eighth time in a year

Former military Timofei Rudenko was detained at the exit from the Moscow special detention center No. 2, Center Memorial reported . This is the eighth detention of Rudenko in a year since he spoke out on social networks against the war in Ukraine.

The security forces told those meeting Rudenko that some investigative actions would be carried out with him today in the Investigative Committee.

Timofey Rudenko is 30 years old, he retired from the army a few years ago. In May 2022, after his anti-war statements in posts, he was detained and arrested three times on fabricated reports of petty hooliganism. Rudenko claims that he was tortured and forced to confess to plotting terrorist attacks.

After the third arrest, Rudenko was released on the condition that he would get in touch, but he did not do this and lived at a different address for several months. In May 2023, Rudenko tried to leave Russia, but was detained again. After that, he was sentenced four more times to administrative arrests under the article on petty hooliganism.

As Yevgeny Smirnov, a lawyer for the First Department, suggested in an interview with Current Time, a criminal case is being “collected” against Rudenko.
