Another alleged Russian spy has been detained in Poland. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the country Mariusz Kaminsky.
The detainee is a citizen of Ukraine, he has lived in Poland since 2019. The man is taken into custody; if convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
“The suspect was watching military installations and ports. He systematically received remuneration from the Russians, ”Kaminsky said. According to him, this is the 15th detained member of the exposed Russian spy network.
In March, Poland announced it had uncovered a Russian spy ring and arrested nine people who the Poles say were monitoring military supply routes to Ukraine and plotting acts of sabotage.
At the end of June, the Russian hockey player was detained in Poland on charges of espionage. The Polish side claims that he “carried out assigned tasks on Polish territory, among other things, to identify critical infrastructure in several voivodeships.” The athlete was charged with participation in an organized criminal group and acting in the interests of foreign intelligence against the interests of Poland. The punishment for these charges is up to 10 years in prison.
