Mathematician Azat Miftakhov sent to ShIZO

Political prisoner, mathematician Azat Miftakhov, was sent to the ShIZO for two violations, his supporters say . First, the inspector found deodorant in his bedside table. Then Miftakhov's bag was very carefully examined, and "inconsistencies" were found.

“Earlier, during the entire stay in the IK, violations were attributed to Azat only twice: soon after his arrival, and a year later, shortly before the trial on parole (so as not to let him go),” the mathematician’s support group says in the Telegram channel.

Both violations are not serious enough to be sent to a punishment cell. But on July 11, the court sent Miftakhov to the ShIZO for three days – he refused to write an explanatory note on the inconsistency of the items in the bag.

In 2021, MSU graduate student Azat Miftakhov was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison. According to investigators, he and three other young people broke a window in the United Russia office and threw a smoke bomb into it. The Memorial Human Rights Center recognized Miftakhov as a political prisoner.
