Dozens of football fans detained in Kazan

In Kazan, the police detained about 60 football fans, Interfax reports , citing a law enforcement source. The detainees "violated public order" on a train traveling to Tatarstan from Nizhny Novgorod, the press service of the police said.

“On the evening of July 14, the duty unit of the Kazan Line Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation received a message that the passengers of the Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan electric train were damaging property, burning flares in the passenger compartment and violating public order. Upon the arrival of the train in Kazan, police officers detained and delivered 35 citizens to the territorial police department,» the police said.

In relation to 28 people, protocols were drawn up for petty hooliganism (part 1 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). A criminal case on hooliganism was also initiated (part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code).

In total, according to the agency, since July 14, 58 fans have been taken to the Kazan police departments, of which 55 are fans of CSKA Moscow. 47 were detained for 48 hours. A part of the protocols were drawn up for “demonstration of Nazi paraphernalia” (Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

The match for the Russian Football Super Cup will be held in Kazan. CSKA and St. Petersburg Zenit will compete for the trophy.
