Azerbaijan announced an operation called "Retribution" in Nagorno-Karabakh and the capture of a number of heights along the Karabakh ridge. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan. The country demanded the complete demilitarization of the territory and the withdrawal of Armenian troops.
During the operation, Azerbaijan "destroyed and wounded the manpower of the Armenian armed formations", as well as destroyed military vehicles and ammunition.
On August 3, the head of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Arayik Harutyunyan, signed a decree on partial military mobilization. This was reported by Interfax with reference to Harutyunyan's press service.
The Ministry of Defense of the unrecognized republic stated that two servicemen were killed and 14 more were injured as a result of drone strikes inflicted by the armed forces of Azerbaijan.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire regime and that "the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, together with representatives of the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides, are taking measures to stabilize the situation."
