On September 19, the pro-Kremlin media replicated the post of State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin in the Telegram channel, in which, as always, he tried to wishful thinking.
Volodin was happily quoted by RIA Novosti, TASS, RT, RBC, REN TV, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and other propaganda sources.
To check the veracity of the conclusions of the speaker of the State Duma, it is enough to follow the links indicated by him. They lead to a statement by US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera:
“Washington believes that the definition of “victory” should come from the democratically elected President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. It is up to him to decide whether to start negotiations. Our task is to provide security and comprehensive assistance to him and his government so that they achieve their goals.
Also in his post are the words of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in an article in the French newspaper Le Journal du dimanche.
“It is the Ukrainians, and only they, who will be in charge of determining the future conditions [of the world],” Borrell wrote. He also called on European countries to strengthen support for Ukraine, "meeting its military and economic needs", noting that the intergovernmental European Fund for the first time since its inception began to finance military assistance to the state where the conflict is going on.
Western diplomats, contrary to Volodin's conclusions, once again stated that they would provide Ukraine with all-round support, including military support. It also follows from their speeches that the Ukrainian government itself will choose whether to continue to fight with Russia or sit down at the negotiating table – any decision will be welcomed by Washington and Brussels. And if earlier European and American politicians called on the Zelensky Office to try to resolve the conflict peacefully, now such statements are no longer heard. Thus, there is no smell of any "disappointment" from the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
