The Finnish government plans to close the country's border for Russian tourists on the night of September 29-30. Helsingin sanomat writes about this, citing sources.
It is expected that the number of Russians arriving in Finland will almost halve. In this case, we are only talking about a ban on entry for tourists. Those who are going to visit Finland for family reunification, study or work are not subject to the ban. There are also certain categories of Russians who can still get into Finland, for example, representatives of the opposition.
Those denied entry will have their passports stamped and their visas cancelled. This means that the tourist will not be able to try to re-enter with her through other Schengen countries.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, some EU countries have stopped issuing visas to Russian citizens. Among them are the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Denmark and the Netherlands have stopped issuing short-stay visas. Finland has reduced the issuance of tourist visas to Russians by ten times. Latvia also restricted the entry of Russian citizens with Schengen visas into the country.
