German Interior Minister Nancy Feser intends to remove Arne Schönbom, head of Germany's cybersecurity agency (BSI), from her post. According to Reuters, Shenbom may have had contacts with individuals associated with Russian intelligence services. German media on Sunday evening wrote about his possible resignation, citing government sources.
According to several publications, it is assumed that Schönbom could have had similar contacts as head of the German Cybersecurity Council.
In addition, he founded an association, which includes the German "daughter" of a Russian company in the field of cybersecurity, founded, in turn, by a native of the KGB.
At the moment, Arne Schönbom has not responded to inquiries sent to him via social networks.
There was also no comment from the Ministry of the Interior and its own department.
“These allegations need to be investigated in the strongest possible terms,” said Konstantin von Notz, chairman of the parliamentary committee for oversight of the federal intelligence services.
