After shelling Ukrainian territory on October 10, Russia does not have a stockpile of cruise missiles for such massive attacks. This was stated by military expert Pavel Luzin in a conversation with The Insider.
According to him, the missiles launched today in the cities of Ukraine, including Kyiv, the Russian Federation has been preparing for several months.
“Those 83 missiles that Russia used today, she saved them for several months. This is if we are talking about cruise missiles. And the old Soviet X-22 missiles, S-300 anti-aircraft missiles, Tochka-U, Uragan missiles – this stuff is still enough, but [also] not much. Enough for terror, but nothing more.
Luzin added that no more than 50 pieces of each type of long-range cruise and operational-tactical ballistic missiles are produced annually in Russia: sea- and land-based Calibers, X-101 aircraft, Onyx anti-ship missiles and missiles for the Iskander complex. In total – about 200 pieces per year. In addition, no more than 20 Kh-32 air-launched missiles are produced in Russia per year.
According to the expert, it is impossible "neither organizationally, nor technically, nor technologically" to sharply increase production or purchase missiles from other countries for such massive attacks as on October 10. Luzin noted that only shelling with "less advanced" missiles or Iranian drones is possible, but in general they "will not affect anything."
On the morning of October 10, Russia shelled the territory of Ukraine. The attacks were targeted at various cities, including Kyiv. 83 missiles were fired , 43 of them were shot down by air defense systems. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that 14 people were killed and 97 others were injured as a result of the strikes. More than 1.3 thousand settlements remain without power, most of all in Sumy (766), Lviv (353) and Ternopil (169) regions. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the strikes a response to the blowing up of the Crimean bridge, and also said that Russia was hitting "energy, military command and communications facilities." Russian propagandists and officials adhere to the same position. They openly express joy and even record videos of dancing in honor of these attacks, despite the loss of life. At the same time, they use the same phrases, as if written in a training manual: “red lines”, “terrorist attack”, “retaliatory strike”.
