Ukrainians sent 236 million hryvnia ($6.5 million) in donations for the purchase of 60 British Spartan armored personnel carriers in a day and a half. The collection was organized by the charitable foundation of Sergei Prytula. Initially, the collection was announced for the purchase of 50 armored personnel carriers, but more were collected. According to him, a lot of money also came from abroad.
“These funds are enough for 60 Spartans, and we even have about 4 million hryvnia left on top for the next project,” says Prytula. – Wait a bit, and we will definitely tell you what we will collect for, but for now, just incredible admiration for everyone who joined the collection. The UK this year handed over 35 Spartans to the Ukrainian military through logistical assistance. And we, ordinary civilians, together with you, chipped in and provided a party almost twice as large, which our army really needs now in such weather conditions.
The Spartan armored personnel carrier is a tracked armored personnel carrier of the British Army. Armed with a single machine gun, the main purpose is the transportation of specialized teams, such as anti-aircraft missile groups. During the announcement of the collection, Serhiy Prytula noted that the Ukrainian army needed such armored personnel carriers on the eve of the autumn-winter period, since movement on wheeled vehicles was difficult due to weather conditions.
On October 10, the Serhiy Prytula Foundation announced that together with journalist Serhiy Sternenko, he managed to collect more than 200 million hryvnias for RAM II UAV kamikaze drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in just 7 hours. They announced the collection immediately during the massive shelling of Ukrainian regions, including Kyiv, by the Russian army.
