Anatoly sat in the garage from September 23 to October 9. According to the volunteer, on the last day another 20 people were brought there: “Either DPR-sheep, or LPR-sheep, like also refuseniks.” The newcomers were placed in the garage, and the Shaymuratians were told: “Pack up and leave.”
– We were transferred to some kind of bunker near the metallurgical plant in the same Novaya Kakhovka – we were there until October 18th. Then the commandant came and said: “Go away from here, wherever you want.” Since we had the documents on hand, we decided to move towards the house. We went to the Crimea, from there we traveled by bus, by hitchhiking. Only on October 22 did I find myself at home, in Ufa. There were five of us in total. With those 30th, who, with the condition that they were transferred to other units, returned to the front line, since then I have not had any contact.
Anatoly’s hopes for big earnings, according to him, did not materialize.
According to our second interlocutor, the most surprising thing for him now is that volunteers are still going to war:
– They are rushing there for money, and they are all deceived. So I didn’t get anything in September, although I was in battle. I didn’t get governor’s, my salary was delayed, then they fired me – and in the end I was left with practically nothing. Received mere pennies.
After the publication of “Idel.Realiya” about the Bashkir volunteer battalions participating in the war with Ukraine, the editors received new evidence from the direct participants in the battles about the conditions of service, losses among personnel and the persecution of those who refused to fight. Refuseniks frankly talk about the lack of weapons, food, warm clothes on the front line, about the rudeness of the command, the senseless death of comrades, and about their attitude to this war.
