Twitter can still become paid. Elon Musk is thinking about introducing a subscription to access the social network.
According to the preliminary concept, every month users will have a time limit during which they can sit on Twitter for free – as soon as it is exhausted, the social network will offer to purchase a subscription. This was told The Verge by a source in the company.
According to the publication, Elon Musk discussed this idea in recent meetings with his adviser David Sachs. However, there is no final decision on the subscription yet, and it is not yet clear how seriously the entrepreneur himself takes such fundamental reforms.
Nevertheless, journalists note that due to the deal with Musk, Twitter has come under financial pressure. So, some of the major advertisers suspended their campaigns there, and Elon himself borrowed 13 billion dollars from banks and is now forced to come up with new schemes for monetizing the social network.
