The State Duma plans to ban teenage abortions and give doctors the right, on religious grounds, to refuse older women to terminate pregnancies.
By all standards, now children from the age of 15 can refuse a fetus – they plan to raise this age to 18. Like, it’s more ethical, and in general, teenagers do not understand what they are doing.
Also, the initiators say that the decision of a woman to terminate a pregnancy violates the right of doctors to a religious or personal conscience. Suddenly they are atheists and just care about the demographics of the country. If the law is passed, any gynecologist will be able to refuse to operate on patients because of their beliefs. And then you can’t do anything.
