Power outages also occurred in some areas of neighboring Moldova with Transnistria. In particular, Chisinau was left without electricity. Media reports that this has already led to a transport collapse.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu commented on the blackout:
“Russia has left Moldova in the dark. Russia's war in Ukraine is killing people, destroying residential buildings and energy infrastructure with missiles. Attacks continue in Ukraine. People get their wounded out of the rubble. And mourn their dead loved ones. People's lives cannot be reversed. But the power supply can be restored. Let's fix the technical problems and we will have light again. All government agencies are working on this. We cannot trust a regime that leaves us dark and cold, that deliberately kills people out of a simple desire to leave other people poor and humble. No matter how hard it is now, our only path, the future path of the Republic of Moldova, must lead to a free world.”
