Russia is running out of Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which it uses in the war with Ukraine. This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense on Twitter, citing intelligence.
Russia has likely launched hundreds of drones since September, using drones against tactical military targets and the Ukrainian power grid, according to intelligence. Recently, however, the Russian command has begun to launch UAVs to compensate for the acute shortage of cruise missiles. The British Ministry of Defense notes that this approach is not successful – most of the launched UAVs were shot down.
“No UAV strikes have been publicly reported since November 17, 2022. Russia may have nearly exhausted its current supply, but will look for ways to replenish it. It is likely that Russia will be able to purchase UAVs abroad faster than it can produce new cruise missiles domestically.”
After massive rocket attacks by the Russian Federation on Kiev and other cities, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov gave an estimate of the stocks of missiles, according to which Russia used up 87% of the missiles for the Iskander OTRK. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Russia has 119 Iskander missiles left; 347 missiles 3M55 "Onyx"; 6980 anti-aircraft missiles for the S-300; 229 Caliber sea-launched missiles; 132 Kh-101 air-launched missiles; 150 X-555; 120 X-22/32; 356 X-35 and 43 X-47M2 "Dagger".
