An unexpected piercing was received by an employee of a timber processing plant back in June – a piece of wood the size of a pencil flew off in the face. A local doctor pulled out splinters, treated the wounds, but a few months later the man’s condition worsened.
Laura of the 1st City Hospital of Vladivostok found the cause – a 10-centimeter chip in the nose. She had already managed to become covered with scar tissue, it was difficult to extract. The first medic might not have noticed the splinter because it went in too deep – in the cheek area.
