Sakhalin news agency Sakh.com, one of the largest in the region, has announced it will close after two blockages in 2022.
“In the conditions of constant blocking, it becomes not only difficult, but also dangerous, to continue journalistic activities, to write about events in the region and in the country,” the editorial office said in a statement.
“Now the residents of the region will find themselves without our support. They should be persistent so that the authorities hear them, learn about their problems, needs, and then, we hope, everything will be fine, ”the message says.
The site was first blocked in August 2022. At the same time, the editors said that they had not received any notifications from Roskomnadzor and did not know on the basis of which article the blocking occurred. After that, the publication's employees launched a new version of the site, but in November it was also blocked – again without explanation.
