The prosecution asked for a sentence of 17 years in prison and a fine of 150 million rubles for the ex-mayor of Vladivostok, Oleg Gumenyuk. The former head of the city denies guilt.
In October 2021, Gumenyuk was accused of accepting large bribes from a company providing funeral services.
According to investigators, in the period from 2019 to 2021, Gumenyuk received money for the patronage of the Necropolis unitary municipal enterprise. Also, according to investigators, Gumenyuk helped a friend who was engaged in construction to get lucrative contracts.
In the final wording of the indictment, the amount of bribes charged to Gumenyuk increased to 38 million rubles.
Gumenyuk has been in custody since October 2021. In the spring of the same year, he resigned from the post of mayor of Vladivostok, after the presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, scolded him for the quality of the repair of the children's industrial park, and the governor of Primorye, Oleg Kozhemyako, said that the work of the mayor did not satisfy residents.
