State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein announced the first case in Russia initiated under a new article on LGBT “propaganda”. According to him, the case was brought against the publishing house "Popcorn Books" on his denunciation. He wrote about it in his Telegram channel.
Also initiated under the article "petty hooliganism."
Khinshtein made a request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, later he was answered that on December 28 a case was initiated under Art. 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (“propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations and (or) preferences, gender reassignment”). The deputy suggested that the case would be brought to court, and that the publishing house that had "openly challenged the state" would "get what it deserved."
Earlier, Popcorn Books printed on the covers of books that fall under the new law a reference to Article 29 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and prohibition of censorship, Reedus wrote.
After the adoption of the new law, the bookstores "Respublika" and "Chitai-Gorod" removed from sale some of the books describing "non-traditional relationships." The LitRes service will not only remove books from sale, but also ask authors to rewrite texts so that they can be returned to sale. Now the service has no more than 1% of books that the authors were recommended to rewrite because of possible “propaganda”.
