Vladimir Makarov, 72, former deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for combating extremism, shot himself at a dacha in the Moscow region, TASS reports .
“The incident took place on the morning of February 13th. The body of 72-year-old former deputy head of the Main Directorate for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Major General Vladimir Makarov, was found in a country house in the village of Golikovo near Moscow. It has been preliminarily established that he committed suicide," law enforcement agencies told TASS.
In January of this year, Makarov was relieved of his post as deputy head of the E Center.
