The court extended the compulsory treatment in a psychiatric clinic for the Yakut shaman Alexander Gabyshev. It is reported by RusNews. He will stay in the Ussuri psychiatric hospital until at least mid-June 2023.
The case against the shaman Gabyshev was initiated in February 2021. He was accused of using violence against a government official (Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, the attack took place on January 28, 2021, when law enforcers came to the shaman’s house and were supposed to re-send him to the Yakut psychiatric clinic. Shortly before that, he announced that he was going to make a new trip to Moscow.
Gabyshev's first campaign from Yakutia to Moscow began in March 2019. He claimed that he planned to walk 8,000 kilometers in order to "expel Putin." In the autumn of the same year, a criminal case was opened against him for public calls for extremist activities. In October, a psychiatric examination declared him insane.
