On April 6, the State Duma will consider in the third, final reading a bill banning the collection of Red Book plants and mushrooms. The document provides for criminal punishment for deliberate collection – up to 9 years in prison, Interfax writes .
Sanctions are established by analogy with Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal harvesting and trafficking in especially valuable wild animals and aquatic biological resources belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and (or) protected by international treaties of the Russian Federation). This article provides for criminal punishment from 6 to 9 years, as well as a fine of up to one million rubles.
At the same time, MP Pavel Krasheninnikov noted that criminal punishment is possible if a person violated the law intentionally, and not through negligence.
Recall that the following plants are included in the Red Book:
- snowdrop
- bell
- incised violet
- feather grass
- fine-leaved peony
- ginseng
- coastal juniper
– and many others.
