Iran is in secret negotiations with Russia and China regarding the supply of a fuel component for its ballistic missiles. This is reported by sources in the diplomatic circles of the publication Politico. If the deal is concluded, it will violate the sanctions imposed on Iran by the UN.
Iran wants to acquire large quantities of ammonium perchlorate, a key component of solid rocket fuel. It is not yet known what specific figures are being discussed, but Politico sources say that these volumes should be enough to manufacture thousands of missiles for Iranian-designed launch systems. If a deal is struck, these munitions and systems could be transferred to Russia and used in the war against Ukraine.
According to Politico, Tehran has already held a series of talks with representatives of both states and state-owned companies, including the Russian FKP Anozit. Iranian diplomat Sayyad Ahadzadeh is negotiating with the Iranian side in Beijing.
Russian troops have been using Shahed-type kamikaze drones to strike Ukrainian infrastructure for several months. The Iranian side admitted that it delivered a "limited batch" of drones to Russia "before the war."
In October 2022, there were also reports that Iran was preparing to transfer its missile systems to Russia, but so far their appearance on the battlefield has not been registered.
