Russian publicist and TV presenter Alexander Arkhangelsky resigned from the Higher School of Economics. He announced this on his Facebook page. According to Arkhangelsky, the leadership of the Institute of Media expressed the desire for his dismissal.
“Dear friends, I have ceased to be an ordinary professor, member of the Academic Council and co-director of the educational program at the Higher School of Economics. I am leaving by agreement of the parties, so I will not comment on anything. I will only say that the initiative came from the leadership of the Institute of Media; I adhere to the rule “we don’t rush statements”, but if they don’t want to work with you anymore, then you need to leave the territory, ”writes Arkhangelsky.
According to Arkhangelsky's official page on the HSE website – unavailable at the time of writing – he has been cooperating with the university since 2006. In 2009, he became an ordinary professor at the university. Arkhangelsky opposed amendments to the Constitution and, as a result, "zeroing" the term of Vladimir Putin's rule. In 2020, the writer supported the protests in Belarus. In April 2023, he gave an interview to journalist Katerina Gordeeva, who was declared a “foreign agent” in Russia.
