Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that he does not yet know whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the Immortal Regiment campaign. Peskov also expressed confidence that alternative formats of the action will be in demand by the Russians.
The co-chair of the central headquarters of the Immortal Regiment of Russia OOD, State Duma deputy Elena Tsunaeva said that everyone is invited to post photos of veteran relatives in social networks, on clothes, on a car and on the website of the movement.
Victory Day in Moscow and other cities of Russia in 2023 will be held in a mixed format, explained Olga Zanko, chairman of the central headquarters of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory", State Duma deputy Olga Zanko. According to her, both face-to-face and online events will be held in the regions of the Russian Federation.
Presumably, the action can be held throughout Russia in an online format, as was the case during the coronavirus pandemic. On May 9, 2021, the action took place in an online format, each subject of the Russian Federation received its own broadcast stream. This year, some regions have already made an appropriate decision: for example, the authorities of Voronezh decided to hold the Immortal Regiment campaign online, a representative of the city administration told TASS.
The Russian-appointed "head" of the occupied Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, said that this year the traditional parade and procession of the "Immortal Regiment" would not be held in Crimea on May 9 "for security reasons." Later, the “governor” of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, clarified that nothing had been canceled in Sevastopol yet.
