Nikolai Chowles, the son of Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, confirmed in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda that he fought in the war in Ukraine as part of the Wagner PMC.
“When I made the decision for myself to participate in SVO, I didn’t know how to get there correctly. Because when it all started, there was not as much information as it is now. So, yes, I had to go to my father. I asked how I can properly contact the PMC. And he helped me with that,” Choles said.
Choles recalled a telephone conversation with Dmitry Nizovtsev, an associate of Alexei Navalny. In September 2022, Nizovtsev phoned him live and, under the guise of a military commissar, informed him that a summons had been sent to him and now he had to appear for a medical examination. “You must understand, if you know that I am Mr. Peskov, how much it is not entirely correct for me to be there. In short, I will decide this at a different level, ”Peskov’s son answered then. He said that he was not going to come to the military registration and enlistment office.
In an interview with KP, Choles said that at the moment when Nizovtsev called him, he was already preparing for the service and "was on his nerves", so he "spoke to them." “When they called, I was actually preparing for the service, for the trip,” he assured.
Choles said that he fought in the PMC under a different surname, but refused to give it. He also claims that he received the medal "For Courage" for "a certain military feat." “My entire crew accomplished a feat. We had one interesting outing. I can’t say more,” said Peskov’s son.
The fact that Peskov's son fought in the Wagner PMC was announced the day before by the founder of the PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin. “Of all my acquaintances, one person is Dmitry Sergeevich Peskov, who at one time was known as a complete liberal, his son, who lived part of his life in America, in my opinion, if I’m not mistaken, or in England … He came and said:“ Take him simple gunner." By the way, it worked perfectly. A simple gunner, knee-deep in mud, shit, on the Hurricane. Few people know about it,” he said.
In 2016, The Insider revealed that Choles had been prosecuted for beating his grandmother. As part of the study of this case, The Insider also learned other circumstances of the life of Peskov's son, who then worked on the RT television channel and flew on a business jet: for example, how he did not pay alimony to his wife and testified in court against his mother shortly before her death.
