Vladivostok will be used by China as a transit port for domestic trade. This was written by the representative office of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Vladivostok, reporting that such a decision was approved by the Main Customs Administration of the PRC.
Starting June 1, goods from the northeastern provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang will be sent to the domestic market through Vladivostok, while before they had to be transported to the south of the country by land for a distance of about a thousand kilometers. Now they will be sent via Suifenhe or Hongchun to Vladivostok, which is about 200 km away, and from there they will be delivered by sea to the southern regions of China under a single customs procedure.
Logisticians quoted by Vpost speak of the importance of cutting the land route from northeast to south due to the approval of a plan to revive industry in northeast China. At the same time, they doubt whether the port will cope with such an increase in cargo traffic, since in September-December last year, the queue for unloading ships in the port of Vladivostok waited two weeks.
Russia is actively cooperating with China, including leasing Siberian and Far Eastern border lands to the PRC. In general, there is nothing unusual about this practice and it is common among other countries. However, China and Russia are constantly deepening their partnership, and these processes have been especially accelerated by the outbreak of the war.
