Seven workers who most actively participated in the gathering at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) were taken to the police station at the request of the director of the enterprise Alexei Spirin, State Duma deputy Alexei Kurinny writes on his Telegram channel.
On May 17, UAZ employees went to the authorities with demands for higher wages, stopping the conveyor before the end of the working day. In the video, which was filmed during the protest, a male voice-over speaks of non-payment of wages and that "the factory is on strike." At the same time, UAZ management claims that the staff went to a “scheduled meeting” with him.
As Kurinny writes, the statement of the director of the plant refers to "illegal actions" on the part of some workers who were subsequently summoned to the Zasviyazhsk police department. The deputy notes that the police “clearly work out the received signal”, while saying that there are no violations of the law in the actions of the workers and assuring that they will be released “in the near future”.
At the same time, the publication Ulyanovsk Online wrote that on May 19 UAZ began to check the security forces. The source of the publication noted that the company is fulfilling the state defense order, and therefore the stoppage of the conveyor can be recognized as sabotage. He also mentioned that the security forces interviewed not only the workers, but also the management.
