In Iran, the command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, an elite unit of the Armed Forces) has introduced a new hypersonic missile "Fattah" (JAFB1C005400), the declared speed of which is Mach 13-15 (4.5-5 km / s). This was reported by the Iranian agency Fars .
Iran has become the fourth country to possess this technology along with Russia, the United States and China. At the same time, the Russian hypersonic missile "Dagger", according to the Russian Federation, has a maximum speed of 10-12 Machs, which is less than the declared parameters of "Fattah".
The ceremony was attended by Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, Commander of the IRGC, Lieutenant General Hossein Salami, and Commander of the Air and Space Forces of the IRGC, Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh.
The IRGC claims that Fattah has a range of up to 1400 km and is able to bypass any air defense / missile defense systems and destroy them. The report also says that the missile has high accuracy, maneuverability and stealth for radar systems.
On May 29, Amir-Ali Hajizade announced that Iran had successfully tested a new hypersonic missile. He promised to provide details later. Shortly after Hajizadeh's speech, the pro-government Iranian publication Jam-i Jam published an article with the headline "7 minutes to Tel Aviv." The article was posted in Farsi, English and Hebrew, and talked about the development of a hypersonic missile by the IRGC, which is capable of not only reaching Israel, but also bypassing all missile defense and air defense systems, accurately hitting the target.
Hajizade announced that the first hypersonic missile had been developed in Iran back in November 2022.
General Amir-Ali Hadjizadeh is under sanctions from the EU, the US, Canada, Britain, Switzerland, Ukraine and Australia due to the supply of UAVs to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine.
