In Yekaterinburg, the prosecutor's office appealed against the decision of the district court in the case of Yevgeny Roizman to discredit the army, reports E1.ru. Because of this, the verdict cannot enter into force and all restrictions for the politician that were in effect during the consideration of the case remain. In particular, Roizman cannot use the phone and go jogging, as well as stream.
“I still don’t understand what is the point of this, because the court’s verdict one hundred percent satisfied the requirements of the prosecutor,” Vladislav Idamzhapov, Roizman’s lawyer, comments on this decision.
In May, the court fined Roizman 260,000 rubles. The state prosecution asked for such a fine, and also demanded that Roizman be left with a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions until the verdict comes into force.
On the day of the verdict, Roizman's lawyer asked the court to add sureties provided by prominent Russians to the case. Among them are the singer Alla Pugacheva, the widow of former President Boris Yeltsin Naina, the playwright Nikolai Kolyada, the former editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy Alexei Venediktov and others. Pugacheva's appeal was not accepted by the court, since it "is not procedural and is not being investigated." Dmitry Muratov, editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta and Nobel Peace Prize winner, came to support Roizman.
