A treason case was opened against a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria for trying to leave to fight on the side of Ukraine, Baza reports . Eric Konokov, 35, is suspected of having started corresponding with a representative of the Caucasus Muslim Corps immediately after the start of the war, and by March 2023 decided to join this unit.
According to the investigation, on March 12, Konokov bought tickets for the Moscow-Minsk train. He allegedly was going to get to Ukraine through Belarus, but he was detained earlier.
The Telegram channel “Caution, news” writes that a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, Eric T., who was charged with treason, is already in a pre-trial detention center, where he was sent in March on the case of calls for extremism. According to the channel, the police a few months after the arrest of the man were able to hack into his phone and found there a correspondence with a certain Ilshat Sh. from Tatarstan, who allegedly served in the Kiev Terodefense, and then joined the “Muslim battalion”.
