Foreign citizens who were stuck in Magadan due to an Air India plane making an emergency landing flew to San Francisco. Interfax writes about this with reference to the regional prosecutor's office.
“The reserve aircraft of Air India with passengers took off at 10:27 Magadan time (02:27 Moscow time – IF) ,” the agency quotes the words of a representative of the department.
An Air India Boeing 777 en route from Delhi to San Francisco made an emergency landing at Magadan Airport due to an engine failure. There were 232 passengers and 11 crew members on board. It was not possible to quickly repair the plane, so the passengers were placed at the school in the Sokol village near the airport.
The first impression of the passengers was that the plane fell into the pit, as well as the absence of hotels in the place where the plane landed, Magadan Governor Sergei Nosov said.
Earlier, the media found out that there were many US citizens on the flight who were concerned about tensions between Russia and the United States. “There are a lot of nervous people here,” one of the passengers told reporters.
Employees of the school cafeteria said that it was difficult for them, since most of the people turned out to be vegetarians:
“They don’t eat meat, sausages are also forbidden, although they were from chicken. It was hard. Moreover, we don’t understand the language, we don’t understand what they want.”
Photos and videos of the accommodation conditions for passengers were also published on the network. Judging by them, people slept on mattresses that were laid on the floor in the gym and classrooms.
