Canada has imposed sanctions against 24 individuals and 17 entities responsible for the destruction of cultural sites, institutions and identity of Ukraine. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.
Among them are ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his son Oleksandr, collaborator, “Minister of Education” of the Russian-occupied territory of the Kherson region Oleksandr Kuzmenko, as well as propagandists Yuriy Podolyaka and Igor Druz.
The statement emphasizes that the Russian armed forces are not only destroying the cultural objects of Ukraine, but are also guilty of stealing or missing "thousands" of objects of cultural value. It is noted that individuals and organizations that are included in the sanctions lists are pursuing a policy of "Russification" of Ukraine. This includes Russian departments, such as the "Ministries of Education and Culture", created in the occupied Ukrainian territories.
On June 10, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland arrived in Ukraine. Trudeau announced the allocation of a new financial assistance package to Ukraine in the amount of 500 million Canadian dollars and promised that his country would take part in the training of Ukrainian pilots.
