Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov spoke about the main tasks of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its current phase. He wrote about this on his Twitter account:
The forces of joint operations at this stage of active hostilities are performing the number one task – the maximum destruction of manpower, equipment, fuel depots, ammunition, command posts, artillery and air defense forces of the Russian army. The last few days have been particularly fruitful. Now the war of annihilation is equal to the war for kilometers. More destroyed – more [territory] liberated. The more effective the first, the more the second. We act calmly, carefully, step by step.
A well-known military analyst, retired Australian Army Major General Mick Ryan, gave an assessment of the UAF counteroffensive. According to him, the "slow" pace of the counter-offensive is partly due to the late delivery of Western military equipment. He also noted that the Russian command had built a deep and well-prepared system of defensive lines. At the same time, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, due to objective factors, is forced to act on a wide front, without concentrating significant strike forces.
