Journalist Aleksey Pivovarov was added to the register of media outlets as “foreign agents” due to advertising income from Google and several money transfers that came from outside Russia. Baza writes about it.
As the publication found out, the first transaction, due to which Pivovarov was recognized as a “foreign agent”, was made in February 2020. A transfer of about $2,000 came to the journalist from the Bermuda-registered Sreda Foundation. This NGO is the founder of the award for Russian journalists "Redcollegia".
Another transfer that caused Pivovarov's “foreign agency” was $47.5 thousand from the German helicopter company Startrade Heli. Between 2019 and 2021, a journalist received about $91.5 thousand from Google advertising – displaying banners located on the site.
Pivovarov was added to the list of "foreign agents" in early June 2022. Together with him, journalist Oleg Kashin, entrepreneur Yevgeny Chichvarkin, artist and LGBT activist Yulia Tsvetkova, Radio Liberty journalist Mikhail Sokolov, political scientist, senior researcher at Chatham House Nikolai Petrov and human rights activist and activist of the medical trade union movement Irina Danilovich got there.
