The Russian police drew up 3,303 protocols on “discrediting” the Russian army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Such data lead "Network Freedom".
All these protocols were drawn up between March 4, the day the article was introduced, and July 14, 2022. Thus, on average, the police draw up 35 protocols on “discrediting” the Russian army every working day.
In 92% of such cases, the courts imposed a fine. For 1,547 of them, the courts recovered at least 50 million rubles, and every 20th case was dismissed.
After the outbreak of the war, Roskomnadzor demanded that the Russian media use only the wording “special operation” when covering the invasion of Ukraine. Also in Russia, criminal cases are being massively initiated against citizens about “fakes” about the Russian army (clause “d” part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code).
