RIA Novosti told how the United States is “crushing Europe” with anti-Russian sanctions, referring to the site of an anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist

On September 30, an article appeared on the RIA Novosti website entitled “Canada revealed how the United States is destroying Europe.” He relied on an article published by one Eric Suess in the "Canadian research center Global Research".

US-imposed anti-Russian sanctions are pushing up energy prices in Europe, forcing European companies to invest more in America, leaving their countries without money.

"The European public will be left further and further behind as the wealth of Europe flows away – mainly to America," the article asserts.

Behind the solid name "Global Research" hides the site of 76-year-old Canadian Michel Chossudovsky, who once taught economics at the University of Ottawa. Now he is a conspiracy theorist promoting anti-American and anti-Semitic views. Since 2017, his website has been on the radar of NATO and the US State Department as one of the main tools for spreading pro-Kremlin propaganda in the West.

Chossudovsky is the son of a Russian Jewish emigrant. In 2005, he published America's War on Terror . It alleges that the 9/11 attacks were a conspiracy by "Israel and Jewish-American politicians" to start a war in Iraq and create a "new world order" in the interests of corporations. According to Chossudovsky, the United States is funding al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, and Osama bin Laden is a CIA agent. This book was found at the residence of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. A Canadian professor suspects the United States and Israel of literally everything: from the terrorist attacks in London in 2005 to the creation of the COVID-19 virus (a Global Research article about the creation of the coronavirus by American intelligence services was even published on Twitter by a representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry). On his website, he also denies the Holocaust and spreads the myth of Irish slavery (which is used to justify racism against African Americans) in the West.

In 2017, the NATO research center StratCom drew attention to Chossudovsky's website. In particular, the attention of researchers was attracted by the fact that Global Research operates by the method of cross-posting: it is one of the first to spread fakes from dubious pro-Kremlin sources, and in return, its articles are constantly cited by RT and Sputnik.

StratCom first took notice of globalresearch.ca in January, when it was the first website to reprint an article originally published by the International Donbas News Agency, a pro-Kremlin news service that operates in separatist-controlled eastern Ukraine. The article claimed that the US had 3,600 tanks ready to be deployed to the Russian border as part of the NATO mission.

The actual number of tanks transferred to Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve was 87.

Erica Suess, a self- described "investigative historian" author of an article on "American expansion," writes books with telling titles like "The American Evil Empire: Hitler's Posthumous Victory" about how "the United States conquered the world after World War II to enslave it for American billionaires and their allies."

Suess also cooperates with the “Katekhon think tank” (which is financed by the sponsor of the war in the Donbass, Konstantin Malofeev, and headed by the nationalist Alexander Dugin). In 2015, he actively replicated the Russian Defense Ministry’s fake that a Malaysian Boeing was shot down by a Ukrainian fighter jet, using obscure sites like Russia Insider (not to be confused with The Insider), which are part of the Kremlin’s disinformation campaign.
