The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow sentenced primary school teacher Evgenia Kholodova to one and a half years of suspended liberty on charges of assaulting a security official at a rally (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code).
According to investigators, on February 24, during an anti-war rally on Pushkin Square, Kholodova hit an employee of the 2nd Special Regiment, police ensign Vadim Khomyakov, with a bag in the face, because of which he “got a wound on the inner surface of the mucous membrane of the lip without traces of blood the size of less than two millimeters.
Kholodova herself told Mediazona that she saw Khomyakov detain a girl who shouted “no war!”. After that, she approached the security officer and asked him to detain her too, so that the other girl would be “not so disgusting.” Khomyakov pushed the teacher away, in response to which she hit him with a bag.
“I caught up with the policeman, hugged him from behind and said:“ Can I go to the paddy wagon with you? But, of course, he pushed me very sharply and rudely, shouted: “Keep your distance!” I got terribly angry and with the words: “Where were you when I was robbed with a knife at my throat?” I waved my bag at him, hit cheek. And immediately I was very scared, ”said Kholodova.
The woman pleaded guilty and made a deal with the investigation. Her case was considered in a special order. After the trial, she stated that she would not appeal the verdict. “It feels like everything has been broken for a long time, so nothing special happened,” Kholodova said in an interview with Sota.
