Stoltenberg noted that the North Atlantic Alliance does not seek war with Russia, and NATO’s direct intervention in the conflict in Ukraine increases the risks of such a war.
Stoltenberg confirmed that Kiev’s proposals to introduce a no-fly zone over the country were discussed at the meeting. However, NATO countries said that they would not introduce such a zone, again because of the risk of escalation of the conflict.
Most NATO countries supply Ukraine with arms and equipment, and the European Union has also allocated a large sum of money for arms supplies to Ukraine.
At the same time, NATO calls on Russia to immediately withdraw troops from Ukraine and begin negotiations, and says that it will defend itself if Russia tries to move the conflict beyond Ukraine.
