Australia and the Netherlands filed an application with the International Civil Aviation Organization demanding to oblige Russia to pay compensation to relatives of the victims of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing crash over Donbass on July 17, 2014.

Both countries hold Russia responsible for the crash.

Most of the 298 people who died on board the plane were Dutch nationals; more than 30 Australian nationals also died.

Earlier, other steps were taken to get Russia to admit guilt and pay compensation. However, official Moscow refuses to take the blame for the loss of the plane, saying it does not trust the international investigation. Moscow blames Ukraine for the Boeing’s death, but does not give its own clear version of what happened on July 17, 2014.
