The Security Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv Region launched a pre-trial investigation.
It is still not known exactly whether there were any casualties among the civilians of Mariupol who were in the bomb shelter under the opera theater building. It had been destroyed the day before.
It is claimed that there could have been about 1,000 people in the shelter. It was feared that many of them had died, but in the morning Ukrainian officials said that the shelter had withstood the impact and people were being pulled out alive from under the rubble.
