The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia has recognized the activities of the British non-governmental organization Calvert 22 Foundation as undesirable. It is reported by Interfax.

The department said that the fund's activities "pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order and the security of the Russian Federation."

The Calvert 22 Foundation is a UK-based charitable foundation established in 2009 by London-based economist Nonna Materkova (born in Russia). The Foundation conducts cultural and educational activities, tells about the modern culture and creativity of 29 countries of the New East (Eastern Europe, Russia, the Balkans and Central Asia).

In 2013, Alexei Kudrin, former Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Civil Initiatives Committee, became a trustee of the fund. For a while, the fund sponsored VTB Bank.

The British NPO has become the 61st foreign organization recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation.
