The Supreme Court of Russia recognized the Ukrainian Azov regiment, whose fighters defended the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, as a terrorist organization. This is reported by the correspondent of RIA Novosti. The meeting was held behind closed doors.

The court also banned the activities of the regiment in Russia. The Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit in court back in May, court sessions were twice postponed at the request of the department.

Earlier, the Russian embassy in the UK stated on its Twitter page that the captured fighters of the Azov Regiment deserved a "humiliating death." A message published on July 29, the day of the attack on the Yelenovka colony, said: “Azov militants deserve to be executed, but death not by shooting, but by hanging, because they are not real soldiers. They deserve a humiliating death."
