Ukraine's prosecutor's office has requested a 10.5 year sentence for Russian tank gunner, 31-year-old Mikhail Kulikov, who is accused of shooting at a high-rise apartment building on the outskirts of Chernihiv on February 26. It is reported by "Grati".

Kulikov is tried under Part 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of the laws and customs of war. Even at the first meeting, he fully admitted his guilt, and also apologized in the last word:

“I want to once again ask for forgiveness from everyone who was affected by this. Morally and physically. Made by me. I repent – from the very beginning to this day, for almost half a year. I sincerely apologize. Sorry. I just want to go home to my family. Thank you for everything".

Former Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova previously stated that the investigation had collected enough evidence that on February 26, Kulikov turned the turret of the T-72B tank towards a residential building on the outskirts of Chernigov and fired at it with a high-explosive fragmentation projectile of 125 mm caliber. “The high-rise building was not a military target and was not used for military needs,” Venediktova emphasized.

Vadim Shishimarin, 21-year-old squad leader of the 4th Panzer Kantemirovskaya Division, was the first defendant in the case of Russian war crimes in Ukraine. According to investigators, on February 28, he shot dead a 62-year-old resident of the village of Chupakhivka, Sumy region. On May 19, Shishimarin pleaded guilty and explained that he committed the murder on the orders of the ensign. On May 21, a court in Kiev sentenced him to life imprisonment. On July 29, the Kyiv Court of Appeal commuted Shishimarin's sentence, replacing the life sentence with 15 years in prison.
