Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed granting refugee status to Russians who are being persecuted in Russia. He stated this in his video message following the results of the 170th day of the war.
At the same time, he still believes that the European Union needs to stop issuing tourist and work visas to Russians:
“They should get help from the civilized world. These are well-known legal mechanisms - through refugee, through asylum applications, through other opportunities to help and support. But this is for those who fight, who are persecuted. And this should not apply to the rest of Russian citizens in Europe, tourism, entertainment, business affairs. You can't work for a terrorist state."
The fact that Western countries should ban all Russians from entering their territory, as well as expel Russian citizens so that they “change their philosophy,” Zelensky previously said in an interview with The Washington Post.
