Politician Leonid Gozman was arrested for 15 days in the case of the re-identification of the USSR with Nazi Germany (Article 13.48 part 2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
He was detained on September 13 at the exit from the special detention center, where he was serving 15 days because of a Facebook post in which he wrote that “Hitler is an absolute evil, but Stalin is even worse.” The reason for the re-arrest was a 2013 post from LiveJournal. In it, Gozman, talking about the Channel One series about SMERSH fighters, compared them with SS formations.
At the trial, Gozman stated: “I am the son of a war veteran, I am the grandson of a war veteran. I believe that the glorification of SMERSH is an insult to the memory of those who died.
Also on September 13, the politician's lawyer Mikhail Biryukov published his letter in case of re-arrest. “I am not guilty of anything either before the people or before the country. I only used my natural right to speak the truth about our life and our authorities,” writes Gozman.
Gozman was diagnosed with cholelithiasis. His defense asked the court to attach a certificate to the case.
