Kazakhstan, Turkey and Serbia say they do not recognize “referenda” in eastern Ukraine

Kazakhstan has stated that it does not recognize "referendums" in eastern Ukraine. A similar statement was made in the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

“Ankara does not recognize the entry of the DPR, LPR, Kherson region and Zaporozhye into Russia, just as it did not recognize the entry of Crimea,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovich said that Serbia also does not recognize the results of the "referenda" on the annexation of the occupied Ukrainian territories to Russia.

According to Selakovich, Belgrade cannot recognize the results of these "referendums" in accordance with the UN Charter and the principles and norms of international law. “On the other hand, it would be completely contrary to our national interests, our policy of maintaining territorial integrity and sovereignty and commitment to the principle of inviolability of borders,” the minister said.

The day before, the Belarusian authorities announced that they would make a decision on the recognition of Russian "referendums" in Ukraine "based on national interests."

“Referendums” in Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine have been held since Friday.
