Investigative Committee opened a case after the explosion on the Crimean bridge

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the fact of the explosion on the Crimean bridge. Under what article the case was initiated, it is not reported.

“The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated a criminal case in connection with the incident on the Crimean bridge. According to preliminary information, this morning on the automobile part of the Crimean bridge from the side of the Taman Peninsula, a truck was blown up, which resulted in the ignition of seven fuel tanks of a train heading towards the Crimean Peninsula. As a result, two car spans partially collapsed. On behalf of the Chairman of the IC of Russia A.I. Bastrykin, forensic specialists from the Main Directorate of Criminalistics (Forensic Center) of the Russian Investigative Committee left for the place. Investigators of the Russian Investigative Committee are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in the commission of the crime, ”the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to create a government commission in connection with the " state of emergency " . He sent the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev and the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Alexander Kurenkov to the site of the explosion.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred around 6 am. The alleged moment of the explosion was caught on video.

“Crimea, bridge, beginning. Everything illegal must be destroyed, everything stolen must be returned to Ukraine, everything Russian occupation must be expelled,” Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the presidential office of Ukraine, reacted to reports of the explosion. No other comments have been received from the Ukrainian authorities yet.
