At least 425 children have died in Ukraine since the beginning of the war – Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, at least 425 children have died and at least 815 have been injured to varying degrees. It is reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

This is not final data, as the count of casualties continues in the temporarily occupied and recently liberated territories, as well as in areas of active hostilities.

The largest number of victims among children was recorded in:

  • Donetsk region - 411,
  • Kharkiv - 258,
  • Kievskaya - 116,
  • Nikolaevskaya - 77,
  • Zaporozhye - 69,
  • Chernihiv - 68,
  • Luhansk - 64,
  • Kherson - 57,
  • Dnepropetrovsk - 31.

The Prosecutor General's Office also reports on the latest known cases. During the recording of Russian war crimes, the body of an 11-year-old boy was found at the burial site in the urban-type settlement of Novoselovka, Kramatorsk district, and the body of a one-year-old girl, both with signs of violent death, in Liman, Donetsk region.

On October 16, as a result of the shelling of the village of Druzhelyubovka, Kharkiv region, a 16-year-old teenager was injured. On October 17, a 12-year-old girl was wounded due to shelling in the village of Konstantinovka, Donetsk region, and a 12-year-old boy was wounded in Tauride, Zaporozhye region. Also on October 17, near the village of Dibrova, Izyumsky district, Kharkiv region, a 16-year-old teenager stepped on an explosive device and was seriously injured.

As a result of Russian bombing and shelling, 2,663 educational institutions in Ukraine were damaged, 326 of which were completely destroyed.
