Residents of Kherson were promised certificates for housing in any region of the Russian Federation. After the annexation, certificates were also distributed in Crimea, but they were evicted from the apartments

Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin promised the residents of Kherson certificates for the purchase of housing in any region of Russia.

“Everyone who wants to move from Kherson will receive a housing certificate, according to which they will be able to choose housing in any region of Russia. It can be both an apartment and a house, both in the primary real estate market, and “secondary housing,” Khusnullin wrote in the Telegram channel.

In addition, he promised to help the residents of Kherson with moving to a temporary residence, compensation for "lost property" and assistance in providing accommodation until the moment they choose an apartment.

After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, the “governor” of Sevastopol, Sergei Menyailo (now the head of North Ossetia), appointed by Vladimir Putin’s decree, also solemnly handed out certificates for housing in front of the cameras. They were handed over to veterans of Afghanistan, liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, large families, orphans. The new tenants were given certificates for the right to access the premises, the developer was obliged to provide this access and issue the keys. However, the new tenants were not able to issue housing in the property. It turned out that the government of Sevastopol did not pay developers for this property. All holders of “Meyailovsky” certificates were evicted, only one beneficiary remained to live in the apartment - the wife of a fireman who died on duty, with her son, who is sick with Down syndrome. Her apartment has already been sold by the developer to other people, but she continues to sue.

Everyone who received certificates from Menyailo stood in queues for many years. After the solemn presentation of the keys, they were removed from the lists, but now they have been returned again, although now they are no longer at the beginning of the queue, but at the end. The wife of the deceased firefighter was second in line at the time of receiving the apartment. Now she is 2255th. They give up to 10 apartments a year, so she will have to wait 226 years for housing.
